En Plein Air Day 2023
Friday, September 1, 8 am to Dark

Sunflower Festival weekend always begins with our En Plein Air painting day and competition. Entries will be judged by a qualified judge. Gallery space is limited to twenty entrants.

Prizes include:
$300 for first place, $200 for second place, & $100 for third place

Plus, paintings may be featured on next year's Sunflower Festival promotional materials

September 1:
En plein air Day begins at 8:00 a.m. Artists report to the Harvest House at Serenity Farm to check in
and to join us for donuts and coffee for a meet and greet.
Then, enjoy a full day to wander the farm and paint!
Paint on location at Serenity Farm from 9:00 a.m. to sunset. At the end of the day, works may be
hung in the Granary (this is not required) for the Sunflower Festival.

Canvases MUST HAVE eye hooks, wire, or other mounting hardware.
Canvases should also have pricing and artist contact information included.



Judged By Barbara Stepura

Local artist, Barbara Stepura was born and raised in Washington, DC, and has lived in
Southern Maryland for much of her adult life. A talented painter, Barbara is equally
accomplished in both oils and watercolors. She has taken classes at the College of
Southern Maryland and workshops and courses with many prominent artists i
Sara Linda Poly, Larry Chappalear, Peter Ulrich and Gwen Bragg. In addition to solo
exhibits, invitational exhibits, and innumerable juried shows, her work has been
displayed in several galleries including; The Art League, Alexandria, Capitol Hill Art
League and Hill Center, Washington, DC, River Gallery,Galesville, MD, Mattawoman
Creek Art Center, MD, and Charles Regional Medical Center, LaPlata, MD. Barbara has
been a Gallery 75 member at the Alexandria Art League since 2007, is active with the
Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters’ Association, and MCAC Artists’ Advisory Committee.
She has received numerous awards for her beautiful and compelling paintings.

By signing the Artist Participation Form, I hold harmless the Farm Heritage Conservancy and Serenity Farm, Inc. for any personal injury or property loss or damage regardless of the cause. I also agree that image of work that I exhibit in the Granary may be used by
the Farm Heritage Conservancy or Serenity Farm, Inc. for publicity purposes.

NOTE: 20% of all art sales will go to the Farm Heritage Conservancy, a nonprofit 501(c)3.
