Restoration of the Morton Tobacco Barn
The Farm Heritage Conservancy has begun restoration of the Morton Tobacco Barn (ca. 1840) at our partner site Serenity Farm.

Built during the ownership of the Morton family, the barn was in use until the late 20th century. It is the oldest remaining pre-Civil War tobacco barn in the Benedict and Hughesville area.
Built in part by enslaved labor, this barn is a testament to those whose history has been forgotten. Once completed the barn will be available for tours.
